Trustee Duties in AME Zion Churches

Trustees are responsible for managing the church’s property, finances, and legal affairs, ensuring everything aligns with the mission of the AME Zion Church. They may also perform Steward duties if no Steward Board exists.

Key Responsibilities:

Property Management: Oversee care and maintenance of all church property, ensuring it’s suitable, safe, and meets the needs of the congregation.

Financial Oversight: Manage the church’s financial assets, including budgets, gifts, trust funds, and insurance coverage.

Legal Compliance: Ensure all legal documents are current and that the church complies with relevant laws.

Strategic Planning: Support long-term planning for church growth, including property improvements and financial strategies.

Accountability: Report to the church’s official board, charge conference, and church council.

Maintaining Order: Help ensure proper decorum is upheld within the church.

Upholding Church Laws: Ensure church operations follow the AME Zion constitution and governing practices.
